The work aims to discuss how Brazil reached the current political crisis under Bolsonaro's presidency with the threat of rupture of the country's institutional structures. Since redemocratization in 1985, the country has followed a paradoxical trajectory: it created a democratic Constitution in 1988, suffered from the political crisis of the impeachment of the first elected president after 21 years of dictatorship and experienced hyperinflation, but even so it managed to reach to economic and political stability between 1995 and 2014. However, the new Brazilian paradox is observed: when everything in terms of well-being was evolving, a state of acute political crisis begins that triggers a chronic economic crisis, but whose outcome is the 2018 election of Bolsonaro, whose administration is disastrous in every way. With this scenario marked by the impasse, it is discussed what is expected for the country with the presidential succession in 2022.
