EVALUATION OF BASIC EDUCATION: A TOOL FOR PUBLIC MANAGEMENT OF THE QUALITY OF EDUCATION AND SOCIAL CONTROL MECHANISM

This essay focuses on the ramifications and implications of the formalization and enhancement of the national and state assessment of basic education that occurred in the first decade of this century. Aims to examine issues of a theoretical-practical logic underlying the conformation of systemic educational evaluations as a tool for public management and social control mechanism implemented policies and educational outcomes publicly measured in all federal spheres. In this exploratory study, the information analyzed was captured by the selection of concepts and data provided on government web sites, newsletters focused teaching evaluations, periodic publications of government agencies and research conducted by renowned researchers. The questioning is not enough evidence to evaluate. It is necessary to invest in effective strategies of appropriation and use of these results for the entire school community and other social sectors, seeing that we redefine the management of educational processes inside the school, in favor of a real improvement in the quality of education provided in public institutions.
