Public Administration Undergraduate Courses in Brazil: Challenges, Profile Training and Specific Area

Abstract: The objective of this work is to identify the key challenges of teaching public administration in Brazil and know the profile of the public administrator training besides seeking to understand the specifics of teaching in this area. It is used as a starting point to discuss the topic, the literature in the field of administration. The results show that although the number of courses has grown exponentially in recent years, there are several gaps regarding academic background in public administration and a difficulty in distinguishing this area of ??business administration. One should mention also the existence of the current movement of the "field of the public" (courses in public management, public policy and management of public policies), to a discussion of the peculiarities of the field of knowledge of public administration.
