Production of knowledge about the Third Sector: building democracy from the relationships between universities and NGOs

Abstract

The aim of this article is to present the theoretical perspectives of democratization of knowledge production on the third sector from the possibilities and dilemmas present in the relationship between university and non-governmental organizations. The discussion was anchored on the crisis situation in the contemporary field of science as well as from the perspective of social practice approach to learning, which constitutes the basis of social interactions. Accordingly, showed up research methodologies as Coproduction of Knowledge and Social Housing, seeking to disseminate knowledge from more horizontal relations, democratic and shared among actors universities and social activism. The discussions indicate that the production of knowledge about the Third Sector can be built democratically from investigative methodologies presented, contributing to overcome the crisis of the contemporary university.
