DIAGNOSTIC USE OF PESTICIDES IN SEEDLING PRODUCTION IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF DONA EUZÉBIA - MG

Abstract

In seedling production there is the use of large amounts of pesticides, which leads to increased cases of poisoning and environmental contamination. The objective of the work to carry out a diagnosis of pesticide use in nurseries to produce seedlings in the municipality of Dona Euzébia-MG, assessing the risks to the health of farmers and rural workers due to the use of these products. Semi-structured questionnaires to workers and owners of 20 randomly selected nurseries of seedling production and trade in the municipality of Dona Euzébia-MG were applied. The results show that rural workers of the municipality due to the low level of education have difficulties in interpreting the manual use of the products. This difficulty associated with the lack of professional knowledge, leads to an increase in poisoning failures, the use of Personal Protective Equipment and information available to workers.
