Social Management and Construction of Public Spaces: Reflections from the Brazilian Network of Community Banks of Brazil

Abstract: The aim of this essay is to present the creation of public spaces by the Community Development Banks (BCDs) while community organizations areable to demonstrate the practice of social management. In this way, we emphasize the notion of public space around the main concepts of social management.We note that the community banks realize the collective management of resources and activities building public spaces of proximity and political articulation. Inthe public spaces of proximity, the community council have a plurality of local actors in order to discuss general aspects of BCDs. Furthermore, the Committeesof Credit Analysis showed the importance of interpersonal and neighborhood relations in decisions. The intermediaries public spaces, such as the networkorganizations of BCDs, are constructing process of institutionalization; achieving support and public funding and discussing the sustainability initiatives.
