This work presents an integrated analyses performed using temporal data from land-use and land-cover mappings in the period 1988-2003 and agricultural-socioeconomic data published by the IBGE to evaluate forest dynamics in São Paulo. Initial results suggest that the greater occurrence of sugarcane-related activities at the studied region might be reflected in the forest regeneration process in regions of the study area, but no direct relations between vegetation dynamics and urban population, and rural population and human development index (HDI) were detected. These results highlight the importance of analyses that focus on relationships between several land uses and socioeconomic factors, with the aim of understanding factors and patterns which may favor forest recovery.Downloads
