The objective of this study was to investigate the limitations of the vegetative growth of the Coffea arabica L, Catuaí Vermelho (IAC 144), submitted to the water deficit, using the following dry matter characteristics: total (MST), of the leaf (MSF), of the orthotropic branches plus the plagiotropics (MSRo+p), of the root (MSR), besides of the leaf area, height and diameter. The experiment was set up in a completely randomized design, using three treatments of water availability [30, 60 and 100% of available water (AD)], with six replications. The plot for the evaluations consisted of one plant per pot. According to the results, it was verified that the water deficit negatively affected the plant growth as the water availability in the substrate decreased, evidenced by significant reductions in MST, MSF, MSRo+p, MSR, leaf area, height and diameter, indicating the need for adequate soil water control as a management strategy for production.Downloads
