This article aimed to investigate the influence of Relative Age Effect in participation of futsal players in an amateur competition. For this, 349 futsal players were evaluated, with 203 of adult category, 52 of U-18 and 94 of U-14, who attended a futsal competition at amateur level in 2013. The data referring to birth date were collected through the players’ registration forms. It was performed a descriptive analysis and invoked to the use of Shapiro-Wilk and chi-square tests. It was adopted the significance level of p <0.05. The results indicate that the RAE was present in futsal amateur competitions, but only for the U-14 category. From these results found, it is reasonable to conclude that the RAE is influenced mainly by age, and the youngest players are more likely to be affected by it, regardless of competitive level.
